Towards Unity through Diversity

By way of introduction

Fernando Schwarz

We know from systems theory or evolutionary ecology that the degree of further development of a system (an ecosystem, for example) is defined by the value of its diversity, which, when it is greater, defines scenarios of greater strength against changes and distortions. All the species that make up the system contribute to its stability, and its unity depends on the innumerable links established within its diversity. We find this axiom in any organization within nature: family groups, herds, populations, communities of species, etc. And at the individual level, in the organization of an organism, a cell, the genetic material.
