During the five years since Carlos Adelantado was appointed International President of the New Acropolis School of Philosophy in 2020, there have been several major new developments in the institution. The most significant event in this period was undoubtedly the death in 2023 of the educator and pianist Delia Steinberg Guzmán, who had been the institution’s president since 1991.

Carlos Adelantado, who was Deputy International President with Delia Steinberg between 2017 and 2020, has continued the work of his teacher and predecessor, Delia Steinberg Guzmán, as well as that of the founder and first president of New Acropolis, Jorge Ángel Livraga Rizzi. At the same time, he has tried to bring new perspectives to achieve a clearer philosophical identity in a complex world, where new communication technologies and social media represent a challenge for both individuals and institutions alike.

In line with these aims, Carlos Adelantado has promoted the implementation of sharred activities for the more than sixty countries where New Acropolis operates across the five continents, within the framework of the various International Days. In addition to World Philosophy Day, promoted by UNESCO, New Acropolis worldwide has contributed to the Day of Arts and Mother Earth Day. All the centres of the IONA around the world are encouraged to participate in these international days with their own activities.

He has also promoted volunteering as a way of practising philosophy through humanitarian aid, encouraging the development of the necessary skills through training so that the institution’s actions can benefit others with added efficiency and know-how.

Another project that Carlos Adelantado has promoted in this period is the online learning platform “Universitas – General Studies”, a long-term project of New Acropolis that offers online university-level education, connecting philosophy and different areas of knowledge. Universitas currently has students from various countries, who have accessed the courses it offers on its digital platforms.

In this period, the International President of New Acropolis has written an engaging philosophical work entitled The Spheres of Consciousness: Myself, Others and the World, which has been published by New Acropolis and translated into many languages. The work is designed as a useful preparation for walking consciously along the path of life.

At the same time, he continued to study and teach philosophy, and was awarded the degrees of Specialist in Eastern and Western Philosophy, and Masters in Eastern and Western Philosophy, levels 1st and 2, by the International Organization New Acropolis, which has its registered office in Brussels.

He has been teaching different subjects in the curriculum of the School of Philosophy for more than 35 years. He also participates in congresses and conferences, emphasizing the need to put philosophy into practice and make it relevant to the problems of today’s world.

In 2013 he moved to Madrid to take over the management of the headquarters of New Acropolis in Spain, while also performing various executive functions at national level, before taking up the post of International President in 2020.
